The Battle of Saratoga (Bemis Heights)

On September 19, 1777 the Battle of Saratoga began with the Americans fighting against the British. The Battle of Saratoga was the  American’s 1st victory! The Americans only lost 90 men, but 240 were wounded. For the British it didn’t turn out as well, 300 were killed, and 695 were wounded. The Americans were once glad to see the British, because the British walked away in shame of themselves. Even though the Battle of Saratoga was a mistake we should always remember the Battle of Saratoga, because it was the turning point for the Revolutionary War.

William Dawes Poem

He was an important part of the Midnight Ride

Captured by the British on his ride

He was a brave man

He had courage

William Dawes

Believed in himself

He helped warn the colonist

He was willing to die for freedom

People forgot that he participated in the Midnight Ride

2017

For 2017 I wanted to have a few goals to set for myself. The reason I wanted to have goals, is so I can challenge myself throughout the year.

1: I want to master at least 4 to 5 more tumbling skills.

2: I want to get recommended to get into advanced math next year.       ( When I go to middle school/ 6th grade)

3: I want to get a 70, or above on all my STAAR test!!

So I really hope that I can keep up with my goals throughout 2017!!!

The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor got attacked on December 7th, 1941 at 7:55 a.m. The attack lasted for 2 hours then finally ended. America’s military lost many things that day, but we still made it through. Sadly Japan did take us by surprise but we were not going to lose that battle. The bad thing about the attack being on a Sunday when we are suppose to be in church worshiping God and Jesus we got attacked. Also, being a Sunday not all of our military men and women were on base at the time of the attack. We were not in war during that time but if you wanna fight we will give you a fight!

The Kid who Ran for President

The Kid Who Ran for President is actually a really great book! Some reasons that I liked it was because it was really interesting, the author really thought out of the box, it was exciting, also when we had to stop at the end of history class it left me wanting to know more, and  it made me curious. The book’s main character is Judson Moon. Judson is very funny, and in my opinion I think that’s what made the book flow so smoothly. Judson also as a friend named Lane. Lane is Judson’s campaign manger. Lane I  think has a different impact on the story than Judson. Lane is more serious than Judson. I really like that though because then we can see to different characteristics of people.  My class has been reading this book over the last week and a half and I have really enjoyed the book! I would recommend this book to anyone from age 7-13. I would especially recommend this book if you have a interest in politics.

Red Ribbon Week!

image

Patrick Reynnolds is the founding father of Red Ribbon Week. The reason Mr. Reynolds started Red Ribbon Week was because,         Mr. Reynolds father and eldest brother died from smoking. Patrick R. talks to audiences about how his tabacco free has made great progress. One of Mr. Reynolds quotes is,” When though moments come, and they will, don’t escape by using tabacco, drugs, alcohol, or even food, music, or work, like many adults do.” Did you know that 1 out of 3 people are addicted to drugs and tabacco? As a result of drugs 5 MILLION people have died because they think they cant get off of it, but they can, anyone can! STAY ALERT AND AWAY FROM DRUGS!

The Wicked Witch of White Oak

One very spooky, rainy, halloween night  three friends named Calee, Jessalyn, and Kylie were carving pumpkins. That’s when everything took a haunted twist. They also had another friend in their group that was not with them. She had been out of school with strep for the past three days. It started getting dark and that’s when Calee spoke up,” Hey are y’all getting ready to go i’m starting to get the he-be-je-bee’s.” Jessalyn,” Come on Calee please let us stay a little longer.” Kylie,” yeah this is the one night a year we can have a lot of fun being scared, please don’t ruin it.” Calee,” Ok whatever burt let’s not stay to late.” So they continued carving their pumpkins and that’s when they heard a witch laugh that sounded like the…. Jessalyn said,” umm is that who i think it is?” Kylie,” Don’t turn around.” Jessalyn,” Why?” Calee,” It’s the Wicked Witch of White Oak!” The 3 friends got up left their stuff even their phones and started running. The witch took after the group of friends. The witch finally caught up to the group of friends and… the witch started laughing like a normal person. It kind of sounded like Kynlee’s laugh. Then Kylie said,” wait a second am i just crazy or does that really sound like Kynlee’s laugh?” The witch,” I got y’all.” Jessalyn and Kylie,” WHAT!!” Calee,” Yep it was a prank all along. Kynlee wasn’t out of school because of strep she has been practicing all the makeup and getting everything ready!!” Jessalyn,” wait Calee you knew about this?!?!” Calee,” Yep.” Kynlee,” Y’all should never under estimate me!!”
